on the edge

The rest of the family had abandoned us to climb Snowdon, so big girl and I had our own expedition today.  We pretended we were going to be conscientious and do some work for, ooh, at least a minute before we abandoned the attempt as futile.

“What are we going to do then?”

“Eat icecream.”

So we did.

We caught the train to Hathersage, and did a circuit up past North Lees Hall, along Stanage Edge, and down to the farm which officially sells The Best Chocolate Icecream Ever, according to my children (I’m not exactly disputing this claim, you understand- I just think it’s important to keep trying in case we’re missing one that’s Even More Best).

Mission accomplished.  Two chocolate icecreams.

Going somewhere with only one child is such a treat.  Especially this one who is a complete delight right now because she’s brimming over with Big Thoughts that she desperately wants to share.
