blank verse

Clouds and contrails, above Peep o’ Day last night

I said: I want us each to live our lives.

Finding our own ways, forging distinct paths.

He asked if I’d found someone new.  I said:

No.  There’s only me.  Isn’t that enough?

I want to shine through; sing out; dance once more

To my own heartbeat.  I crave the feeling

Of sun on my back, and wind in my hair.

I need to live a while in the moment,

Because life is fragile and uncertain.

My wish for you is that you do the same.
