every line of a long moment

Skye’s beautiful, and I like to visit it, but… it’s full of tourist buses, and mountains, and they clutter my mind. I crave the faraway flat islands of the west.

Driving off the ferry onto the wide open spaces of a wetly grey North Uist felt like coming home. This afternoon, as the four of us battled our way along the blustery beach, even more so. There was a moment when we realised we were all running with the wind, from sheer exhilaration. I can picture a life to be lived out here; a better life.

Four more days to get enough of a fix to last until next time I escape…
